Every day, Pick and Popovich will post one fake trade and explain why it makes sense for every team involved to make it. There are no parameters beyond fitting within the salary cap. Sometimes the trades will involve stars, others role players. They are not grounded in actual rumors, they just make sense on paper. During the 2016 NBA Playoffs, each week will feature seven fake trades of one star player. This is DeMarcus Cousins Week.
Sacramento Kings Receive: Milwaukee Bucks Receive:
Jabari Parker DeMarcus Cousins
Greg Monroe Marco Belinelli
Why Sacramento would make this trade: This package satisfies both Vivek Ranadive’s insane desire to make the playoffs right away by acquiring Greg Monroe in his prime, but it also gives the Kings a major building block for the future in Parker.
Why Milwaukee would make this trade: Cousins is still young enough to fit Milwaukee’s timeline, but he also solves a few major issues with their roster. He can shoot three’s well enough to provide some spacing, but in trading Parker the Bucks also open up another spot in their starting lineup for a shooter. The combination of Boogie and another long-range threat could actually give the Bucks enough spacing to field a competitive NBA offense.
