Every day, Pick and Popovich will post one fake trade and explain why it makes sense for every team involved to make it. There are no parameters beyond fitting within the salary cap. Sometimes the trades will involve stars, others role players. They are not grounded in actual rumors, they just make sense on paper. During the 2016 NBA Playoffs, each week will feature seven fake trades of one star player. This is Danilo Gallinari Week.

Why Denver would make this trade: Danny Green is actually older than Gallo, but he has far less mileage and he fits a bigger need in terms of perimeter defense. At his best he’s the perfect compliment to Emmanuel Mudiay and Will Barton as he can defend 1-3 extremely well and provide spacing on the perimeter.
Why San Antonio would make this trade: Trading Green is a tough pill to swallow, but the Spurs desperately need more shooting and ball movement and Gallo solves both. It wouldn’t be ideal defensively, but Kawhi Leonard has covered for far worse teammates.
